Oakbridge’s McCay Bowdoin Discusses How Agents Can Help Construction Clients in Big I’s Independent Agent

In an article published by Independent Agent, McCay Bowdoin, practice leader for the Construction & Homebuilders Program at Oakbridge Insurance, discusses the challenges facing the builders risk insurance market and how insurance agents can help construction clients limit risk and boost profits. 

The two biggest challenges plaguing the construction industry have resulted from post-pandemic economic trends: labor shortages and supply chain issues. “COVID-19 changed the construction environment tremendously,” Bowdoin said. “The biggest change we’ve seen over the last two years is a shortage of available labor and subcontractors. Supply chain issues are another challenge and small contractors are experiencing delayed completions as a result.” 

Bowdoin cautioned small contractors to remain focused on running an organized, safety-conscious business with dependable labor in order to finish jobs in a timely manner and avoid business-specific risks and higher costs.
